SEYMOUR, Ind. (AP) _ Authorities say major flooding is ahead for parts of southern Indiana this week, aggravated by up to 6 inches of rain and forecasts for n more in coming days.

Storms dumped up to 6 inches of rain in the area Friday through Sunday morning. The National Weather Service predicts 3 inches or more of additional rain through Wednesday.

The city of Seymour was at the center of the storm Saturday, with high winds that knocked down trees, cut power and damaged homes.

Some rivers already are above flood stage, and levels are expected to rise in a number of locations.

The weather service says the White and East Fork White rivers in southern Indiana have “very significant flooding” Sunday. It forecasts “significant flooding” along the Wabash River in western Indiana.
