In an effort to build partnerships with local organizations and companies, the Madame Walker Theatre Center has started Soul Food Fridays as a new signature program.
The cultural event will take place every last Friday of the month and is intended to bring a new crowd into the Walker and introduce that crowd to Indianapolis’ Black-owned restaurants and caterers.
On Friday, May 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Maxines Chicken and Waffles will serve their most popular items at a flat rate of $10. All meals include one free drink.
Music will be provided and vendors are welcome. Vendors must apply by e-mailing info@walkertheatre.com.
Attendees of the lunch are asked to RSVP at rsvp@walkertheatre.com.
An additional partnership for the event includes one with Radio One Indianapolis’ AM (1310) “The Light.”
Liz “Faith” Dixson is a radio personality you can currently hear blessing the airwaves as afternoon host of the Kingdom Takeover from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and God Squad co-host of the Nu Church Radical Praise Party every Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. on AM (1310) The Light. Dixson will be on site at May’s edition of Soul Food Friday.
