The Raymond James Stutz Artists Association will celebrate 20 years during its open house April 26 and 27. More than 70 artists will open their studios to visitors during the two-day event.
Not only will attendees get to admire fascinating artwork, they will also view how and where the one of a kind pieces are created. The artwork includes paintings, drawings and photography, sculpture, jewelry and furniture. Stutz guarantees there is something for everyone to delight in.
āThe event is a great snapshot of the arts and cultural community in Indy. Itāll consist of a diverse people, from all walks of life looking at and talking about art,ā said Jen Thomas publicist for the Raymond James Stutz Artists open house. āItās exciting for me to be a part of something I used to come to as a visitor.ā
Thomas says every year the open house is different because of the host of new contributing artists. This year photographer Faith Blackwell of Faith Blackwell Photography will be in the art showcase among all the artists.
Blackwellās work is described as fun, happy and vibrant. The artist was reluctant to describe her work herself saying, āI canāt really explain it, I just bring my creativity into everything I do.ā
Sheās excited to meet the thousands of people who will pass through during the weekend.
āItās great to be apart of such a creative community,ā Blackwell said. āI hope attendees are inspired. I didnāt pick up a camera intending to be a photographer or even take halfway decent pictures. I look forward to a life long career in it.ā
Artwork will range from $12 to $10,000. The event also offers a rare chance to see vintage cars in the historic Stutz car factory. Visitors will enjoy special gallery opening activities such as acoustic music and food vendors too. Saturday the open house will feature free hands-on activities for kids, which will be perfect for a family gathering.
Celebrating 20 years is certainly a milestone for Stutz.
āIt shows the maturity of the arts community in Indianapolis. In its early days, only people who were really into art, and who probably knew some of the participating artists attended. Now the event attracts art lovers as well as people curious about art, but donāt have a lot of experience with formal art events or gallery openings. I love it,ā added Thomas.
