INDIANAPOLIS — Ivy Tech Community College has entered into a partnership to provide Sprint wireless equipment and service discounts to students, staff and faculty statewide.

The college has signed agreements with Wireless Business Solutions, LLC (WBS), an Indianapolis-based Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), and MiCTA, a technology-oriented buyers’ cooperative supporting higher education.

To help Ivy Tech students and employees stay connected and productive, the agreement features discounts on Sprint products and services, a free month of service, and waived activation charges for orders placed through a customized, user-friendly online portal developed and designed by WBS. Sprint products and monthly services include multi-media devices, smart phones and Sprint Mobile Broadband devices.

This new agreement represents an innovative approach to providing wireless equipment and service to higher education students, faculty and staff.

The partnership is the first in the state for a college or university with a national MBE wireless company to provide services to the college.

“We always try to lead by example and mirror our diverse student population by providing opportunities to minority and women-owned business enterprises that we feel have the capacity to deliver on target solutions to the college,” said Jim Hudson, Chief Procurement Officer for Ivy Tech Community College.

Ivy Tech Community College is the state’s largest public post-secondary institution and the nation’s largest singly-accredited statewide community college system with more than 130,000 students enrolled annually. Ivy Tech has campuses throughout Indiana. It serves as the state’s engine of workforce development, offering affordable degree programs and training that are aligned with the needs of its community along with courses and programs that transfer to other colleges and universities in Indiana. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association.
