Ivy Tech Community College is hosting a Military Recognition Event to honor veterans 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 11 in Ivy Tech’s Corporate College and Culinary Center, 2820 N. Meridian St. The event is free and open to the public.

Speakers at the event will include Ivy Tech Chancellor Kathleen Lee and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs Frank Moman. The event will feature a reception with complementary food and drinks for all and raffle prizes for veterans. The goal of the event is to honor veterans and to raise money for the VA Hospital.

Ivy Tech serves more veterans than any other college in the state of Indiana. Currently, the college serves over 6,300 veterans. Earlier this year, Ivy Tech was named to the 2014 Military Friendly Schools list by Victory Media. The list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

Ivy Tech Community College is the state’s largest public postsecondary institution and the nation’s largest singly accredited statewide community college system serving nearly 200,000 students annually. Ivy Tech has campuses throughout Indiana. It serves as the state’s engine of workforce development, offering affordable degree programs and training that are aligned with the needs of its communities. In addition, its courses and programs transfer to other colleges and universities in Indiana. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association.
