The Eagle’s Nest is adventurous, sexy

I had heard of The Eagle’s Nest sitting high on top of the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis hotel and thought this would be a nice place to take my husband for his birthday. I did a bit more digging to find out if it actually rotated and once I found that it was in fact true I knew this surprise dinner would be unique.

We arrive at the hotel and he had no clue what was going on. We take a ride on the elevator to the top, and exit right into the restaurant. Being that our reservation was on Monday, there were very few people in the restaurant. Perfect – nice and intimate.

My husband walked in, looked around and shook his head in approval. Our server seated us at an adequate table, but for this special night, I wanted to sit by the window.

Finally settling in, our server handed us our menus, explained the special dish of the evening and left us to decide on our dinner.

As my husband perused the menu, I sat across the table grinning like a 6-year-old kid. He looked up and gave his signature “I married a nerd” look. I said, “do you notice anything?” He looks around and takes a few guesses. Wrong! “The restaurant is rotating,” I said.

He got confirmation from the server, looked at me and thanked me for bringing him to such an exclusive restaurant. The view was breathtaking and amidst the dim lights of the restaurant was the neon glow of the city lights.

Our server returns and we finally order. For our appetizer, we tried the grilled shrimp cocktail. It was grilled perfectly and the cocktail sauce had just the right amount of kick.

The restaurant was running a special, which Andre decided to try. A three course meal consisting of a salad, entrée and dessert was $40. He chose the house salad, herb-crusted prime rib and chocolate and coffee mousse. He washed that down with a Blue Moon and a few Sprites. Andre let me sample his steak and it was bursting with flavor. One of the best I’ve had in the city. His dessert was decadently rich and chocolaty.

I decided to try the standard menu and ordered a Bloody Mary to sip on while munching on a Caesar salad. Andre made fun of my neatly prepared salad, but honestly, other restaurants could take some notes from The Eagle’s Nest. People don’t need a big honkin’ salad before their meal. Mine was the perfect amount of food.

For my entrée I had the filet mignon and for dessert, I tried the crème friache cheesecake with lime curd. My steak was prepared exactly as I ordered it and I almost inhaled the cheesecake it was so delicious.

Hoosiers have been sleeping on The Eagle’s Nest. I won’t name names, but in my opinion, their steaks are better than some well-known steak houses in Indy. This eatery is high on my “romantic” restaurant list and I will definitely plan to go back again.

And the cherry on top of the delicious food and sexy atmosphere is that the skyline at night is ridiculously enchanting.

The Eagle’s Nest has a simple menu filled with dishes that have both clean and complex ingredients making a meal that’s to die for. Whether it’s for a birthday, anniversary or just because, you have to check out The Eagle’s Nest.
