2 Indianapolis schools closed over flu cases

More by this author

Two elementary schools in Indianapolis are being closed for a week after a single student at each one was found to have become ill with the swine flu virus.

State Health Commissioner Judy Monroe announced Friday that the illnesses of the two children bring to three the number of confirmed swine flu cases in Indiana. Health officials said that neither child was seriously ill.

The schools will be closed from Monday until May 11. One of them is in the Indianapolis Public Schools and the other in Washington Township.

Indiana’s other case is that of a University of Notre Dame student who authorities say has fully recovered.
