Stacked Pickle offers some delicious food

Are you always in a pickle about what to order while dining out? You don’t have to be stressed out – you could enjoy some good food at the Stacked Pickle restaurant in Carmel.

The restaurant with the catchy name is one of several located on the street level of buildings that have apartments above them. The Stacked Pickle says it just wants to be your neighborhood home away from home.

And where did that name come from? A worker said the owner was planning on just having a sandwich shop and wanted something catchy to draw in customers. But plans changed, they got a liquor license and the sandwich shop turned into a sports bar that serves some excellent pub grub. The name was too good to change, so Stacked Pickle stuck.

If you’re in the mood for tavern fare while watching one of the many large television screens located throughout the restaurant, you have come to the right place.

For an adventuresome starter, you might try – what else, but the fried pickles for $4.99. They are hand-breaded pickle spears served with ranch dressing.

For a main course, fish tacos are featured at $9.49. You get three tacos filled with grilled tilapia, mixed cheese, mango-cilantro salsa and cole slaw. The dish is served with a Caesar salad. Or you might try a full rack of slow-smoked baby-back ribs seasoned with five spices and served with cole slaw and French fries. The dinner is $16.99. A half rack goes for $12.99.

The burger menu also has some specialities like one with mushrooms, onions and bacon and topped with swiss cheese; or a black and bleu with bleu cheese crumbles, black pepper and bacon; or a barbecue burger with BBQ sauce, sautĆ©ed onions and cheddar cheese. Each of the Ā½ pound burger plates come with beer-battered fries and a dill pickle spear. Burgers run from $7 to $7.50.

On the healthier side, you can order some delicious dinner salads. My dining partner selected a cobb salad – romaine lettuce topped with grilled chicken breast, avocado, bacon, black olives, egg slices, bleu cheese crumbles and tomatoes.

I ordered a tuna salad consisting of romaine lettuce tossed with balsamic vinaigarette then topped with tomato, egg slices, red onions, honey glazed walnuts and a large scoop of tuna salad on top. Both salads were $6.99 each and were ample to fill any hunger pangs.

In the sandwiches and wraps categories, there are chicken fajita wraps, veggie wraps, and a roast beef sandwich served on a hoagie roll and filled with beef, sautƩed mushrooms, onions, green peppers and provolone cheese.

There is also the house favorite; Ā  a hand-breaded or grilled tenderloin topped with spicy mayo, lettuce, tomato and red onions and served with fries. Wraps, sandwiches and pizza options are in the $7 to $9 price range.

Children are welcome and there is a small menu of kid favorites for them.

And of course there is a bar that features many kinds of beer products. The bar stocks 25 different kinds of bottled beers and 12 different draft beers.

There are a variety of wines available, and the bar serves the latest cocktails. Drink specials are featured daily.
