Three Indiana University campuses – IU Bloomington, IU East and IU Kokomo – set new spring-semester records this year for enrollment or credit hours, according to data released Jan. 18, by the Office of University Institutional Research and Reporting.

University-wide enrollment remained stable from a year ago, with 95,420 students enrolled in classes at the seven Indiana University campuses, a 0.4 percent decrease from spring 2011. The figures released Jan. 18 include undergraduates, graduate students and students enrolled in professional schools.

Growth was robust at IU East, where enrollment increased by 12.5 percent, and IU Kokomo, where enrollment grew by 9.6 percent. IU East set a spring enrollment record with 3,348 students and a record for the number of credit hours in which students are enrolled. IU Kokomo enrolled 3,152 students and set a spring record for credit hours.

IU Bloomington continued a string of record spring enrollments with 40,479 students, up slightly from a year ago. It also set a new record for credit hours.

“These figures show that Indiana University has a strong appeal to students from across the state and around the nation and world,” said IU President Michael A. McRobbie. “It is especially gratifying to see strong growth of the East and Kokomo campuses as they find innovative ways to serve their regions. The data are essential to our efforts to ensure that students remain on track to earning their degrees in a timely manner.”

In the fall of 2011, enrollment at the seven IU campuses was 101,980. University enrollments typically decline from fall to spring.
