Obituary Ted Mays Jr.

Theodore Clarence ‘Ted’ Mays Jr., 67, of Indianapolis departed this life with his family at his side on Sept. 2, 2009.  

Ted, originally from Evansville was born on October 23, 1941 to Theodore Clarence Mays Sr. and Joy Eloise Jackson Mays who both preceded him in death. At an early age, Ted accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Throughout his life, he professed his love for Jesus Christ.

Ted is survived by his wife of 48 years, A. Bruceil Kindall Mays, daughter Carolene Mays (Fred Medley Sr.), son Theodore Mays III (Nicole), daughter Felicia Davis; grandchildren: Jada Benedict, RickQuia Davis, Keith Washington, Dewayne Washington, Frederick Medley II, Niles Medley and Chase Medley; brothers: Robert E. Mays (Martharee), William G. Mays (Rose); brothers-in-law: Luther M. Kindall (Alpha) and Edward T. Kindall (Beverly) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Ted was a strong supporter of the Lincoln Clark Douglas Alumni Association and its scholarship initiative. He loved working in his yard, and he was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football and IU Basketball. He will be sorely missed and will remain in our hearts forever.

On Thursday, Sept. 10, visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Stuart Mortuary Chapel; with services at 1 p.m. Entombment will be in Washington Park North Cemetery and Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lincoln Clark Douglas Scholarship Fund in memory of Theodore C. Mays Jr. through Old National Bank, 101 W. Ohio St., Indianapolis, IN 46204 or at any Old National Bank branch.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to Stuart Mortuary.
