Facebook 101 for the Network Marketer

More by this author

“Facebook’s mission is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected”. People use Facebook to keep up with friends; share photos, links and videos; and learn more about the people they meet. That all sounds great, but for many of us, the world of online social networking is foreign and frankly intimidating. The truth of the matter is Facebook can be fun and surprisingly simple to master for even the most reluctant user. Once you have familiarized yourself with its nuances, you can quickly learn to leverage its many features to promote and grow your networking marketing or MLM business.

For those of you who have not yet ventured onto Facebook, here is a quick play-by-play to help you get acclimated:

ā€¢ Build Your Profile

Visit facebook.com <<a href=”http://www.facebook.com/”>http://www.facebook.com/> and follow the very simple, step-by-step instructions that will lead you through the process of building your profile. This includes personal info, contact info, plus education and work info. Make sure you upload a picture of yourself to help people find and remember you.

ā€¢ Build Your Network

Once you have created your profile, look up and “friend” (send a friend request) loved ones and customers to build your Facebook network. To do this, you simply click “Friends” on the Facebook navigation bar at the top of the page, then click “Find Friends” or “Invite Friends.”

Once you have built your list of “friends,” you can communicate with large numbers of people in fun and interactive ways. This is a simple way to communicate with your warm market plus share ideas and tips about your product and/or your business opportunity.

When exploring Facebook, look into searching, joining, and creating a “Group.” For a list of MLM groups on Facebook, enter key words like “MLM,” “network marketing,” or “home based business.” Next, click a specific group to learn more about or join. If you decide to join a group, for example, the Entrepreneur’s Club, click “Join Group” or “Request to Join” (if you have to be accepted before you can join). To create a group, you go to Settings>Application Settings>Groups>Create Groups. This allows you to set up a forum for people to share ideas and successes in a central location. These “organic” conversations are often more compelling than traditional marketing materials.

There are also several Facebook tools, that helps with building your Facebook Friends, Check out my blog www.kennystoolbox.com to try out the Facebook Friend Adder!

ā€¢ Begin Networking

Once you have a profile and have sought out and become “Facebook Friends” with your warm market, you are ready to begin networking. Determine what your message is going to be. Are you going to send weekly updates on your success with your business? Perhaps you want to share product reviews and testimonials from customers and product users. What about sending personal notes via the messaging feature to encourage your downline and promote your products to potential customers?

Once you have determined your Facebook strategy, set aside time daily or at least weekly to send messages to your “friends.” After awhile, this will likely become one of your favorite methods of business development. It will open the doors of communication for those “friends” to ask questions and learn more about your products and business opportunity on their own terms.

The Facebook Friend Adder also allows you to send messages and comments on your friend’s page, to keep them up-to-date on your business, and your offerings!

ā€¢ Consider Advertising

Facebook also offers you the capability of advertising to “reach your exact audience and connect real customers to your business” (facebook.com). You can target your paid ad based on age, gender, location and more to reach the right people. You can direct individuals to your own web page or to an item on Facebook like a group event. Step-by-step instructions for designing an ad are provided.

In conclusion, remember to have fun with this! The world of social media is new and exciting! Dive in and learn to use it to your advantage. Facebook and most other related platforms are designed with the end-user in mind. If you run into problems, check out my blog. www.kennystoolbox.com
