Pentagon notes Gadhafi’s changing tactics

More by this author

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon says NATO will have to adjust the way it operates in Libya to keep up with changing tactics by forces of Moammar Gadhafi.

Rebels opposed to Gadhafi are complaining that NATO air strikes are too late and that NATO has allowed Gadhafi forces to push them from the oil port of Brega.

Both NATO and U.S. officials counter that it has become harder to strike Gadhafi forces because they are disguising themselves in civilian clothes, hiding among the population and taking other measures to avoid strikes.

Defense Department spokesman Col. Dave Lapan said Wednesday that it illustrates the saying that “the enemy gets a vote” in any conflict. And he said it will be up to NATO to now adjust to Gadhafi’s tactics.
