During the Alumni Leaders Dinner, Indiana University in Bloomington alumna Evelyn Pierce-Hicks was honored with the Alumni Association’s (IUAA) President’s Award, recognizing decades of transformative volunteer service.

Established in 1990, the award celebrates alums whose dedication profoundly impacts IU communities and beyond.

Hicks, a two-time IU School of Education graduate across two campuses, has served the Neal-Marshall Alumni Club since 2008, including a term as president. She currently sits on the IUAA Executive Council and its Belonging Committee. Since her volunteer work began, she has advocated for marginalized groups. Her commitment extends to mentoring at-risk youth in Warren Township and championing educational equity.

A 54-year member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Hicks spearheaded initiatives focused on youth development through systemic change. She volunteers for flagship IUAA programs like the Top 100 Scholars Dinner, Little 500 Regatta and Neal-Marshall Jazz Brunch.

IUAA Director of Affinity Engagement Leah McRath-Hinton escorted Hicks at the ceremony.
