A night of laughter to benefit Indy sober living housing

Two nationally known comedians will be in town on Aug. 24 for a first-time, one night only comedy show called Laff-Aholics that will benefit three local recovery sober living houses.

Laff-Aholics is for a mature audience and begins at 8 p.m. at the Indianapolis Museum of Art – The Toby.

Tickets at $25 can be purchased in advance at laff-aholics.com or at the door on Wednesday.

The event’s organizers include Marti MacGibbon, an Indianapolis certified addictions treatment professional, author and comedian. She and husband Chris were inspired to start Laff-Aholics based on a 24-year-old Los Angeles comedy benefit called Yukaholics that MacGibbon has performed in while working the California comedy club circuit.

Laff-Aholics will feature comedians Alonzo Bodden, whose credits include winner of the third season of Last Comic Standing, and Ritch Shydner, a veteran comic and one of the founders of Yukaholics. Both performers are donating their time for the Indy performance.

Sober living recovery housing supports those battling alcohol and other addictions who often have no where else to live. Laff-Aholics will benefit Rich Recovery Services, The Talbot House and Dove House. All provide transitional housing, recovery support and case management to help clients overcome addictions and reunite families.

Dove House, a female only sober living house, faced closing its doors earlier this year due to the loss of a significant federal grant.
