October isn’t October in Indianapolis without Circle City Classic. The annual event is a time to celebrate Black history, support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and of course, enjoy football.
This year’s game features the Kentucky State University Thorobreds at Frankfort and the Albany (Ga.) State University Golden Rams, two teams who are on a mission to win the SBN Sports Black College National Football Championship. Albany State is especially anxious because they won the title last season after posting an 11-1 record. Kentucky State has yet to hoist the trophy.
Boasting high powered offenses, the teams are clearly coming to the Circle City to entertain the crowd. Entering the classic game, both teams possess a winning record and are getting to the end zone frequently averaging 37 points a game each.
The Golden Rams must look out for Kentucky State’s Keith Massey who has returned two kick offs for touchdowns this season. On the other side, the Thorobred coaches must include wide receiver Tyler Adetona, a former Indiana University player in their game plan. Although he played sparingly for the Hoosiers, Adetona who is the sole male heir to the ruler of Ijebu Ode in Nigeria (a city of 420,000) and projected to be the next king has incredible leaping ability and great hands.
The 28th annual classic game is sure to be nothing less than entertaining, thanks to two teams who can put the ball in the air and are determined to win a championship.
