Whether an individual believes that a spiritual being created the universe or that it simply evolved over time, they would be engaged by what organizers will present during the annual Creation Evidence Expo.
The free conference, sponsored by Zion Unity Baptist Church and several local collaborators, will be held Sept. 21-26, with most activities taking place at The Life Church at Southport, 4002 Southport Road.
It will begin with an anti violence rally at the Indiana Statehouse and an āEvening with the Starsā gala with prominent researchers and theologians on Sept. 21, and end with a debate between Dr. Jay Wile, an advocate of creationism, and Dr. Robert A. Martin, who supports evolution.
In between, the expo presenters will lead several exhibits and workshops that discuss the origins and age of the Earth, the development of human beings and offer information supporting the teaching of intelligent design (creationism) in public schools alongside evolution.
Presenters will also offer what they say is scientific and archeological āevidenceāĀ such as fossils and archeological discoveries that prove that the world was āintelligently designedā by a high spiritual being.
Each day will feature different musical guests such as the group Joshua, Dr. Thomas Eden, Rosa Sadowski, Zionās Joy, Sounds of Grace, Deanne Harris and the Oasis of Hope Baptist Church Choir.
Pastor Frederick Boyd of Zion Unity, said a goal of the Creation Expo is to offer a venue in which educators, pastors and scientists can explore and discuss scientific research that they say supports the theory that God created the Earth approximately 6,000 years ago, and events recorded in the Bible are historically and scientifically sound.
Boyd said scientific evidence favors God as being man’s creator, in contrast to the teachings of Charles Darwin (Darwinism), which asserts that humans evolved over time from primitive animals. āWe encourage people to come out because they will discover that in places of education our children are not getting the true picture when it comes to the origins of life,ā Boyd said. āWe are pursuing truth in education, to re-educated our children and young adults so that they can stand up to the lies being perpetrated upon them through school textbooks and other forms of media, saying that God doesn’t exist and that evolution is based on science.ā
Boyd and other organizers want attendees, whether they have a faith or not, to know that God specifically designed each individual and humans do not come from animals. The Expo, Boyd noted, is even open to those who support evolution and other theories that dispute the claim of Christian creationism.
Several prominent guest speakers have been invited to appear at the Expo. They include
⢠Dr. Willie Dye, an archaeologist from Texas with extensive archaeological knowledge from world travels and researching evidence confirming his famous quote that a “perfect design requires a perfect designer.” He is the most prominent African-American involved in biblical archeological research in Israel.
⢠Dr. John C. Whitcomb, prominent theologian and co-author of the book The Genesis Flood
⢠Dr. Carl Baugh, of Texas, who is the founder and director of the Creation Evidence Museum. He has been featured on television network specials such as “The Incredible Discovery of Noah’s Ark,” which aired on CBS and NBC.
⢠Dr. Jay Wile, a former atheist who holds a Ph.D. in nuclear chemistry from the University of Rochester and is a world renowned speaker and author of eight textbooks, which use award-winning techniques to inform young and old readers on the differences between creation as a science versus evolution.
⢠Dr. Charles Ware, president of Crossroads Bible College.
The first Creation Evidence Expo (formerly Creation Evidence Crusade) was convened by Boyd, who had invited Baugh to speak at this church. That engagement grew into an exposition the following year, and Boyd changed the event from a ācrusadeā to an āexpoā in order to not offend those who donāt share his views.
Since, then Boyd has been joined by an interracial and interdenominational coalition of Central Indiana churches and family advocacy organizations that are assisting him with promotions and volunteers.
“It’s going to be an exciting program, and I’m looking forward to participating,” Dye said.Ā
