Indianapolis – Samantha Cross was recently named as the new Director of Business Development of the Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation (IndyGo) by its President and CEO Michael Terry. Cross has been with IndyGo since 2005, initially serving as Marketing Manager, and later promoted to Director of Marketing and Customer Service in 2007.
Cross, a native of Indianapolis, will serve in the newly appointed role formerly held by Terry, before his recent promotion. In this role, she will oversee Marketing and Communications, Customer Service and Planning aspects of the agency.
“I am honored to be able to serve on the executive staff and continue to make a meaningful impact for the organization,” said Cross. “I realize I am following behind big footsteps, but I greatly welcome the challenge.”
During her tenure as Director of Marketing and Customer Service, ridership and customer service usage saw an increase. In 2008 alone, IndyGo handled more than 670,000 customer inquiries between IndyGo.net and the Customer Service Call Center. Since 2005, Web usage has more than doubled to nearly 350,000 visits in 2008.
“I am confident that Samantha will continue to grow and develop IndyGo as she has done in her past four years here,” said Terry. “Samantha is done a marvelous job developing the company’s marketing aspects and responding to our customers’ needs. I look forward to that continued dedication.”
Before joining IndyGo, Cross served in the marketing and communications field at the Indiana State Fair, Market Square Arena and Clowes Memorial Hall of Butler University. Cross is a graduate of Indiana University and enjoys giving back her time in community service and the arts.
