ST. LOUIS — Telamon, a $468 million company based in Indianapolis that provides a variety of services to the telecommunications industry and its customers, is expanding into the St. Louis market.

The new office, located in Jefferson County near Fenton, will employ some 17 workers initially, expanding to approximately 28 workers by 2013. Telamon specializes in IT deployment, meaning the company receives and installs IT hardware and software for its clients. Their workforce will consist of IT engineers, assembly workers, installers, warehouse staff and administrative personnel.

The St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA) and its economic development partner, The Missouri Partnership, have been working with Telamon since December 2008. A competitive project, other sites Telamon considered were located in southern Indiana and Kentucky.

“We are grateful to the city and state for their help in locating a site that allows us to be closer to our customers, and we are eager to become a vital member of the St. Louis business community,” said Telamon – Carrier Services Group President Caleb Ho.

“Telamon’s choice to locate its new office in the St. Louis region highlights our region’s strategic location and provides the company with better access to serve its customers. The RCGA is pleased to have worked with Telamon, the State of Missouri, the Missouri Partnership and Bingham Economic Development Advisors, LLC to bring new jobs to our region,” noted RCGA President and Chief Executive Officer Richard C.D. Fleming.”

“Jefferson County is very pleased that Telamon selected our County for their new offices and we are excited about the new jobs Telamon is creating,” said Sam Rauls, Executive Director of the Economic Development Corporation of Jefferson County.

Telamon ranks 9th in Diversity Business Magazine’s ranking of the 2009 Top 500 Asian-Owned Businesses in the U.S. Established in 1985, Telamon has more than 300 employees in eight locations in the United States and China.

The RCGA is the chamber of commerce and economic development organization for the 16-county, bi-state region. The mission of the RCGA is to unite the region’s business community, and to engage dynamic business and civic leadership to develop and sustain a world-class economy and community.

The Missouri Partnership is Missouri’s non-profit economic development agency charged with marketing Missouri’s assets to expansion-minded companies and attracting new business and jobs to the state.
