Mini-pitch installed

A new soccer mini-pitch honoring Black Players for Change (BPC) and Black Women’s Player Collective (BWPC) was installed Sept. 24 at Oscar Charleston Park, 2800 E. 13th St.

The mini-pitch was installed as part of the BPC and BWPC Mini-Pitch Initiative. The initiative’s goal is to remove systemic barriers that prevent youth of color from playing soccer. The mini-pitch honors Major League Soccer player Ray Gaddis, a graduate of North Central High School and features murals of legendary African Americans such as Madam C.J. Walker, Oscar Charleston and Briana Scurry.
