Freetown Village Summer Day Camp
Freetown Village Living History Museum is currently accepting applications for their summer day camp. The camp is located at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, and will begin June 6 and run for nine weeks through Aug. 5. The camp can accommodate 50 children per week.
The Freetown Village day camp provides children ages 5-14 with an enriching learning experience. The camp curriculum is designed to incorporate state and national standards and includes a series of cultural, social and community awareness activities that educate campers about prominent African-American men and women from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries who have positively impacted local and national communities.
Weekly themes will guide activities and cultural field trips. The camp is open to new and returning families.
Freetown Village will hold an orientation session in the Fellowship Hall at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 4601 N. Emerson Ave., on June 4 beginning at 10 a.m.

ā39 Steps’ at IRT
“The 39 Steps,” a Tony Award-winning play which has been called “an Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece… with a dash of Monty Python” is playing now through May 14 at the Indiana Repertory Theatre.
Four actors play multiple characters, contend with outrageous special effects, and, along the way, pay homage to some of Hitchcock’s most iconic movie moments, all while delivering a somewhat faithful, totally tongue-in-cheek rendering of a classic Hitchcock movie.

Jazz Kitchen to host Benny Golson
The Jazz Kitchen will present multitalented and internationally famous jazz legend, Benny GolsonĀØ and his quartet on April 30.
Showtimes will be at 7:30 and 10 p.m.

Golson is a composer, arranger, lyricist, producer, and tenor saxophonist of world note.

Photo exhibitĀ at Central Library
Indianapolis professional and amateur photographers are invited to take and submit photos of Indianapolis’ downtown Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair St., for a special exhibit at Central Library during June and July.
The exhibit, “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” will feature photos of the library’s inner and outer architecture. Photographers of all ages are encouraged to visit Central Library during normal library hours between now and May 15 to photograph inside the library using handheld, self-contained equipment. The emphasis is on artistic perspective, beauty and/or architecture.
Photo entries (one per person) for the exhibit will be accepted at the Information Desk at Central Library from May 1-20. All entries, maximum size 8 x 10, must be the original photography of the entrant and taken within the past two years. Photos also must be mounted on mat board or foam core.

Pop star Katy Perry coming to Conseco
Pop super star Katy Perry has added an Indianapolis show to the North American leg of her California Dreams 2011 World Tour.
She will play Conseco Fieldhouse on Sept. 14.

Perry just wrapped up the sold-out European leg of her tour, and will be heading to sold-out shows in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
Jason Webley plays in city May 5
Accordion troubadour Jason Webley will play in Indianapolis May 5 in a special performance with the band Accordions.
The performance will be at Earth House, 237 N. East St. at 8 p.m. All tickets are $10 each.
Scottish Rite Chorus free concert
The Scottish Rite Chorus will perform a free concert on May 1 at 3 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, 650 N. Meridian St.
Those attending will also have the opportunity to tour the Scottish Rite Cathedral, as tour guides will be available beginning at 1 p.m. Following the concert, free refreshments will be served.
