INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana Black Expo will honor actors Danny Glover and Angela Bassett and Indianapolis Colts linebacker Gary Brackett at its corporate luncheon and awards presentation July 15.
Expo says it will give Bassett its Screen Image Award for her portrayals including Rosa Parks, Tina Turner and Malcolm X widow Betty Shabazz.
It says Glover has earned its Freedom Award for his outspoken support of humanitarian rights across the nation and around the world.
Brackett will receive the Excellence in Sports Award. In 2009 he won the Arthur S. Arkush Humanitarian Award, presented to an NFL player “whose contributions to the community and charitable organizations are especially outstanding.”
Black Expo says nearly 3,000 corporate, community and political leaders are expected to attend the corporate luncheon during its annual Summer Celebration in Indianapolis.
