The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis provide services promoting a healthier lifestyle and gives back to the community in an even greater way.
Annually, the Y for All Campaign raises money for members and participants who are unable to afford the full fee. Contributors come from various backgrounds and income levels.
This year, the YMCA received a unique donation from a 9-year-old boy.
Carl Biddings IV attends Chapelwood Elementary School and has played basketball for the Y for four years now. He decided to contribute to his team differently when he was motivated to get involved with the fundraiser after finding out two of his teammatesā parents could not afford it.
With the help of family and friends, Biddings was able to collect $80.
Following an annual meeting dinner last May and having his story told to the community, supporters just kept giving. Not only did he raise $150 to sponsor his youth basketball team, but he donated $10 of his own money at a recent Y for All event. Biddings will be recognized and awarded for his kind heart.
āThis is a great accomplishment for him and we hope he keeps doing good deeds,ā said his father, Carl Biddings III.
On Nov. 15, Biddings will attend the 2013 Indiana Philanthropy Day & Awards Luncheon, where he will receive an Outstanding Youth Achievement Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
That evening, Biddings will receive a youth volunteer award at the YMCAās 159th Volunteer Recognition Night held in conjunction with an Indiana Pacers game. Following the dinner, each volunteer will be given complimentary tickets for the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers game.
āI am happy I raised the money,ā said Biddings. āIām excited because this will be my second Pacers game too.ā
