Youth in High Def Youth Council will host their 3rd annual Youth Summit titled Super F.L.Y. (Future Leaders of the Youth). This youth summit theme is based on super heroes and will focus on youth ages 12 to 18 and will take place Oct. 7-8 at George Washington High School.
The summit will consist of three components: entrepreneurship, leadership, and college and job readiness. Keynote speaker, Dr. Farrah Gray, will speak to the youth regarding entrepreneurship, perseverance, and leadership.
The objective behind the theme SuperF.L.Y is to:
- Inspire youth to see their potential and be given the opportunity to shine with their strengths.
- Provide resources for youth after high school. While youth realize that not everyone attends college after graduation, they want to make sure to highlight alternative possibilities after high school through workforce, certifications, or entrepreneurship.
- Educate youth on proper resume building, completing applications, interviewing skills, and presentation skills.Ā
The council will also have a career fair on Oct. 8 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Registration is required for each participant. To register, www.nearwestindy.com. For more information, call Patrice Duckett at (317) 637-4312 ext. 21.
