Music Ministries of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church will present two concert productions of “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
The productions will be at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 and 3 p.m. on Oct. 16 in St. Luke’s Sanctuary.
In this famous Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s production, “Jesus Christ Superstar,” follows the final seven days of the life of Jesus, seen through the eyes of his 12 apostles and Judas Iscariot. In the story, Judas is unable to view Jesus as anything other than a deeply flawed human and is worried he will ultimately lose control of his followers, which would doom them to destruction at the hands of the Roman empire.
With an incredible score and lyrics, audiences have enjoyed this rock opera over and over again.
St. Luke’s production will feature Matt Branic as Jesus, Lauren Walawender as Mary Magdelene, Nick Carpenter as Judas, Jack Bragg as Caiaphis and many other members of the local Indianapolis theater community. The production will also feature the full St. Luke’s Orchestra directed by Bob Zehr.
Tickets are $35 for reserved seating, $20 for general admission and $10 for youth 12 and under.
St. Luke’s United Methodist Church is located on 86th street near Meridian at 100 W. 86th St.
