INDIANAPOLIS—Representatives from over 30 churches and organizations will make a check presentation to the disaster relief organization Convoy of Hope at a special worship service this Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 5:00PM at Eastern Star Church, 5750 E. 30th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46218.

The culmination of eight weeks of fundraising efforts, over $180,000 has been raised to date.

Returning to Indianapolis on Friday, March 5th from a week-long mission visit to Haiti, Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson, Sr., Senior Pastor of Eastern Star Church recognizes the sense of urgency needed to assist the disaster-ravaged nation.

“The magnitude of the devastation is overwhelming”, said Johnson, “but if anyone can make a difference and should be an advocate on the front lines of this issue, it’s the church.”

The initiative now known as Indiana Churches for Haiti began with Pastor Johnson’s outreach to a few fellow pastors seeking to jointly raise funds for Haitian relief. As word spread, an overwhelming number of congregations also announced their support and inquired how they could get involved.
