Without Sanctuary

Cincinnatiā€™s National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, 50 East Freedom Way, Cincinnati, Ohio, is presenting ā€œWithout Sanctuary,ā€ a photography exhibition that explores the dark past of lynching in the U.S. now through May 31 at the Jack H. Skirball Gallery. This powerful exhibition shows in chilling detail the horrors of the violent mob crimes, of which as many as 4,000 occurred between 1882 and 1968, mostly to African Americans. With W.E.B DuBoisā€™ quote ā€œWe must remember, because if the world forgets evil, evil is reborn,ā€ in mind, it also asks viewers to explore how societies can prevent these atrocities from ever happening again.
