Stacey & Rick’s

More by this author

Tucked in a quiet strip mall on North Sherman Drive is Stacey & Rick’s Soul Food, which provides itself on doing something very simple but important: giving customers excellent cuisine that keeps them coming back again and again.

The restaurant operates under the motto, “Come and join our family and we’ll feed your family.”

Indeed, nothing is like homemade food, but Stacey & Rick’s provides the next best thing to it, and is the place to go when the great cook in your family needs a break.

As soon as you step into the restaurant, you can feel the warm, inviting atmosphere. Some seating is available, but most customers call in and pick up their orders.

Unlike many soul food places, which are limited in their offerings and even their availability, Stacey & Rick’s is able to provide food prepared the way it should be, throughout the day and evening.

Patrons can start their day off right with nice breakfast items such as pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage. Among the restaurant’s popular choices is the breakfast combo, which includes a complete offering of four slices of bacon, three eggs, rice or grits and toast for $6.50.

Plenty of satisfying items are on the menu for lunch and dinner, including everything from chicken wings, rip tips and pork chops, to catfish, perch and whiting, which are served as filets or sandwiches with a side of fries.

Those who are not interested in any fried items can enjoy other selections like deluxe cheeseburgers, meat loaf and chili dogs.

Stacey & Rick’s has plenty of favorite side items, such as fries, onion rings, okra, cole slaw, potato salad, greens, mashed potatoes and of course, corn bread and macaroni and cheese, all available in various sizes to fit your needs.

Like the breakfast options, many of the lunch and dinner choices can be combined with sides for various combos ranging between $5 and $6.50.

Frequent patrons know to check the sign in front of the restaurant, which always displays the current special. At press time, customers could buy an order of small rip tips for $4.

Stacey & Rick’s is not trying to set the world on fire with exotic or fancy dishes; it just wants to perfect classic soul food favorites we all know and love.

“When you visit us you won’t be disappointed,” owner Rick Fowler said. “You’re going to leave satisfied with an affordable, quality, home-cooked meal.”
