Chi Eta Phi Sorority Inc. to host annual scholarship luncheon

The Eta Chi chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority Inc. is hosting their annual scholarship luncheon for nursing students at the Jewel Event Center from 12-3 p.m. on June 15.

Chi Eta Phi, a professional nursing sorority for registered professional and student nurses, boasts over 8000 male and female members from all different ethnic backgrounds.

Aiming to elevate the field and those who work in it, the event will continue the organization’s mission by hosting a scholarship luncheon.

Rosalyn Brown, president of the Eta Chi chapter, shared that a lack of younger nurses and Black nurses can contribute to worse health care outcomes.

The scholarship luncheon aims to offset this disparity by providing scholars with money for books and tuition needed to complete nursing school.

“We want to make sure younger nurses have the opportunity to not only get into schools but relate to the younger patients when they get them in,” Brown said.

At the event, attendees will be able to enjoy food while networking with fellow nursing professionals.

The event will be held at the Jewel Event Center on 3333 North Illinois St. Tickets cost $60 per person and $480 per table, and attendees can register using the Eventbrite link here. Sorority members should note their name when registering.
