Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) is holding a scholarship fundraiser in honor of the late Amos C. Brown, III, which will be held on his birthday, Dec. 18.
Brown, a renowned broadcaster and activist, dedicated his life to empowering the community and advocating for several causes — including Circle City Classic, Indiana Black Expo, the United Negro College Fund and voter education initiatives. Today, the CICF honors his legacy through the Amos C. Brown, III scholarship — which “fosters diverse voices and leadership within the community,” according to a press release.
The scholarship is open to graduating seniors who display exceptional academic achievement, are actively engaged in community service and indicate financial need. Priority consideration is given to students from Marion County, Indiana public schools and those from minority backgrounds.

CICF has marked Brown’s birthday — Dec. 18 — a “Day of Giving” to honor his life and legacy. The fund, which has already raised a little more than $20,000 over the summer, aims to raise $5,000, which would bring it to 35% of the $100,000 requirement for scholarship endowment.
CICF invites community members and stakeholders to help support future leaders through the scholarship fund. Donations made during the Amos C. Brown, III Day of Giving and beyond will go directly toward the opening of scholarship applications.
