Center for Leadership Development’s annual College Prep Conference and College Fair
As Nelson Mandela wisely said, “The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow.” Those words remind us that the future is not something we simply inherit — it is something we intentionally prepare.
When communities fail to invest in young people, the impact reaches far beyond the classroom. We risk losing future educators, health care professionals, engineers, entrepreneurs, public servants, and civic leaders who will drive innovation and strengthen our communities. Every student represents untapped potential, and investing in their growth is not just an educational priority — it is an investment in our collective future.
Developing young leaders is a shared responsibility. Every student who discovers their purpose, pursues higher education or a skilled trade, starts a business, or chooses a life of service contributes to a stronger, more prosperous community.
This year’s theme, “Rooted in Greatness, Leaders Rising,” is more than a slogan — it is a call to action. It challenges families, educators, business leaders, and community partners to recognize that tomorrow’s leaders are sitting in today’s classrooms, waiting for opportunities to grow, lead, and thrive.
The Center for Leadership Development’s 19th Annual College Prep Conference & College Fair is designed to create those opportunities. This transformative, full-day experience will empower students entering grades 9–12, student-athletes, and supportive adults with the knowledge, resources, and confidence needed to build pathways toward academic excellence, college success, and meaningful careers.
Participants will engage in interactive workshops focused on college admissions, financial aid, scholarships, leadership development, career exploration and academic achievement. The College Fair will provide students the opportunity to connect directly with colleges and universities from across the country, opening doors to educational opportunities and helping them envision the possibilities ahead.
Attendees will also be inspired by keynote speaker Aleanya Moore, whose journey reflects the spirit of this year’s theme. Her message will encourage students to embrace their potential, empower parents and supportive adults to champion their children’s dreams, and inspire community leaders to continue investing in the promise of the next generation. She will remind us that greatness is not defined by where we begin, but by our willingness to rise, persevere and lead with purpose.
The College Prep Conference & College Fair is more than a one-day event — it is an investment in the future leaders of our communities. Every workshop attended, connection made, and opportunity explored helps strengthen the foundation students need to achieve their goals.
On Saturday, Aug. 22, we invite students, families, educators, mentors, and community leaders to join us in nurturing the gifts and leadership potential within our young people. Together, we can strengthen the roots that ground students in excellence and help them rise as the leaders our communities will depend on tomorrow.
When young people are Rooted in Greatness, there is no limit to how high our Leaders Rising can soar.
