Local March of Dimes Youth Leaders Help Give All Babies a Healthy Start and Meet National Celebrity for Thanks

(August 26, 2009, Indianapolis, IN) Key Clubs provide invaluable service to the March of Dimes and the Indiana Chapter provided Key Club local leadership with an opportunity to receive thanks for their service from March of Dimes Youth Celebrity Spokesperson Kelly Clarkson backstage prior to her August 14th performance at the Indiana State Fair.

The Indiana Chapter invited Grant Lin (National Youth Volunteer), Taylor Granat (Kiwanis Key Club District Governor), Justin Mann (Kiwanis Key Club Lt. Governor Circle City Division/Roncalli H.S.), Michael Mann (Kiwanis Key Club Lt. Governor Capital/Southport H.S.) to the meet and greet with Ms. Clarkson who posed for pictures with them and personally thanked each for all that they and Key Clubs do for the March of Dimes.

All of these Key Club Leaders are part of March of Dimes Team Youth Program that includes Chain Reaction and Collegiate Council. Chain Reaction and Collegiate Council trains volunteers for the present and community leaders for the future.

The most appealing component of these councils to high school and college students is the opportunity to develop, nurture, and build their leadership abilities. Through orientations, workshops, and experience running meetings, members learn how to interact and work with others. They identify their strengths and weaknesses and learn how to become more efficient and effective leaders.

Through these experiences, Chain Reaction and Collegiate Council members develop time management, goal setting, public speaking, and marketing skills, in addition to learning to become active community leaders. And they are helping babies to be born healthy in their communities and throughout the nation.

The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide and its premier event, March for Babies, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies. For the latest resources and information, visit marchofdimes.com or nacersano.org.
