Indianapolis, IN (August 9, 2010) – Anyone with a young child, grandchild, niece or nephew knows that children have vast imaginations… and they take it out on anything they can get their hands on! They doodle on the on the walls, on the floors, on the back of the driver’s seat in the car, basically everywhere. Instead of scolding them for creating mash potato sculptures at the dinner table, give them an outlet for their creativity by enrolling them in art classes at the Indianapolis Art Center! The Art Center offers classes for children ages 2 and 3 with an adult, and classes for ages 4 and up independently. With classes ranging from painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, photography, glass blowing, and acting, the Art Center is THE place for youth and teens to create art. Offering both 6-week and 2-hour samplers, the Art Center provides top-notch education in a relaxed and fun environment. Just a few of the unique and creative opportunities for youth and teens: World Art Odyssey (6-weeks): Explore the world using subjects from the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu and the Egyptian pyramids to the colorful Aboriginal artwork of Australia. Projects and themes provide imaginative globetrotting and jumping off point for a creative journey that improves drawing skills, use of line and color, and visual thinking. Ages 7-12. Steel Sculpture for Teens (6-weeks): “Steel yourself” for an exciting and creative experience making a wide range of ornamental and decorative sculptural objects while learning the basics of steel sculpture. Ages 13-16. Learning and bonding opportunities for adult and child: Adult/Child Mixed Media Design & Dinner (6-weeks): An excellent way to turn dinner time into quality, creative time with your kids! Bring a brown bag dinner or swing by your favorite take out and have dinner while watching a demonstration. After dinner, roll up your sleeves and get ready for some fun creative fun with your child. Projects may include treasure boxes, clay animals, and playful puppets. For children 5 and up! Adult and Child Ceramics (6-weeks): Create with your child using hand-building, wheel throwing and free form sculpture from slabs of clay. The class includes learning the process of firing from greenware to finished glazed pieces. Easy to do with amazing results! Ages 6 & up. Youth Glass Samplers:

For those families that can’t make a 6-week commitment, the Art Center offers sampler classes. Only two hours long on a Saturday morning, kids 10-16 can feel the heat and experience the excitement of the glass studio. Nurture their desire to create by enrolling them in classes at the Indianapolis Art Center. Not only will the children have a great time (see attached photos), you’ll keep the mess out of your house! No more wiping marker off the walls, and paint off the floor, leave that to the Art Center, all you have to do is throw their clothes in the washer and the kids in the shower!
