Authorities say a homeless man set a fire that destroyed a six-story apartment complex under construction in downtown Indianapolis earlier this month.
Marion County prosecutors said Thursday that 23-year-old Brandon L. Burns is being held on preliminary felony charges of arson and intimidation in the blaze two weeks ago.
Court documents say Burns told a former girlfriend that he and some friends started the fire at the Cosmopolitan on the Canal complex and that he was going to burn down her house, too.
Authorities say Burns claims another man started the fire.
The adjacent headquarters of the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana also was damaged in the blaze.
A spokesman for prosecutors says Burns doesn’t have an attorney.
