October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and several events are happening to raise awareness.
Silent No More will have the fourth annual Concrete Voices event to raise awareness of domestic violence and provide resources. The goal is the reach 500 homes in the 46218 ZIP code, which has a high number of police calls and runs.
Free food, including boxes of fresh produce and non-perishable items, will be available. Concrete Voices will be 1-3 p.m. Oct. 23 in the parking lot of Safeway grocery store located at 25th Street and Sherman Drive.

Stand Against Domestic Violence open house will be noon-7 p.m. Oct. 23 at McAlisterās Deli, 5822 Crawfordsville Road. Masks are required.
The open house will include workshops and vendors featuring self-defense products, skincare items and jewelry. Local author Charlotte L. Brown will sign copies of her latest childrenās book, āMy body is My Body: I Have Rules.ā

Local author Cassandra Anderson will read passages from her book and hold a book signing at 2 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Eagle Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library, 3905 N. Moller Road, for her book āRising from the Ashes: A Journey from Trauma to Healing.ā
Anderson lived through years of trauma as a child and endured sexual abuse. In her book, Anderson shares her life story and offers uplifting messages for anyone who may be experiencing or has experienced domestic violence or sexual abuse.
