“Art of Recovery” is demonstrating how creative expression helps women heal from substance use disorder.

Presented in partnership with the Indy Arts Council and Dove Recovery House for Women, the “Art of Recovery” showcase takes place from 2-3:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 at Fonseca Theatre Company’s Basile Collaboration Center. The showcase will not only shed light on the impact of substance use disorder but highlight how art can be used as a vehicle for self-expression, trauma processing and community building, according to a press release.

“This showcase is a testament to the power of art in recovery,” Wendy Noe, CEO of Dove House, said in a statement. “Through creative expression, women can process trauma, rediscover their voices, and access tools for healing and lifelong recovery.”

Dove House is the largest women’s recovery residence in Marion County and Dubois County. The establishment is certified as a Level IV Recovery Residence through the Indiana Alliance for Recovery Residences.

“Art of Recovery” was made possible by the “Arts for Awareness Grant” which Indianapolis and the Opioid Settlement Funds awarded Dove House. The grant was used to create a program, “Art of Recovery” that explores women’s creative expression and its ability to help them heal from substance use disorder, according to a press release.
