Dr. Lisa Harris receives national recognition, one of only 50 in the country honored for innovation
Lisa Harris, M.D., chief executive officer at Eskenazi Health, has been named to Forbes’ “50 Over 50” in the category of innovation.
The Forbes “50 Over 50” list, a collaboration between the media company and the Know Your Value initiative, is dedicated to what the publication describes as women who are “leading a movement” by “making their greatest impact in life’s second half.” The list spotlights influential women from all industries who are shaping their fields and communities through their leadership, innovation and impact. Now in its sixth year, the award has received submissions from Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America as well as the United States. In its first year, 10,000 women were submitted for the honor.
Forbes honored Dr. Harris for innovation in leading Eskenazi Health’s groundbreaking initiatives to transform health care, especially for individuals who are low-income and most burdened by chronic disease. Forbes highlighted her commitment to improving health while reducing health care costs by focusing on primary care and mental health care expansion. The report also showcases Eskenazi Health’s system-wide approach to addressing the social drivers of health and its development of comprehensive health engagement zones aimed at reducing the 16-year mortality gap between Central Indiana’s most and least advantaged neighborhoods. Dr. Harris is the only health system CEO represented on the list and one of only a handful of women chosen from the Midwest.
“Women across the country are doing some of their most ambitious, influential and powerful work after age 50,” wrote Maggie McGrath, senior editor at Forbes Media. “Compiling the 2026 list was a rigorous process involving thousands of online nominations; extensive research, reporting and fact-checking from expert Forbes and Know Your Value journalists; a careful culling based on our methodology; and a final round of vetting and tire-kicking.”
Forbes 50 Over 50 honors women across four categories – lifestyle, impact, innovation and investment – spotlighting entrepreneurs, innovators and artists who are turning significant years of experience into bold ideas, breakthrough achievements and lasting impact. Other women in science and technology fields recognized in the innovation category include a Nobel laureate, AI and robotics entrepreneurs, a lead scientist at NASA and the CEOs of GoodRx, Sprout Pharmaceuticals, Seaport Therapeutics, Immunocore, Daré Bioscience, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, and Osteoboost.
