At Indianapolis Monthly’s inaugural Global Eats event on July 29, West Fork Whiskey buzzed with international flavor as local independent restaurants showcased their culinary creations. From Venezuelan arepas to Pakistani curries, each bite was a gateway to a new culture.

While not all the foods were sampled, hereā€™s a closer look at five standout dishes that made this global feast unforgettable.

Che Chori

The Che Chori Argentine chorizo was a flavorful delight with a long, winding line emphasizing its popularity. Grilled to juicy perfection and served with a vibrant chimichurri sauce, the sausage sat on a crusty French baguette. The sandwich offered a delicious balance of spicy, tangy and fresh flavors, all enveloped in the airy, golden embrace of bread.

At Salamat, the Space Yam cookies and Peach-Mango Tango cookies were standout treats that dazzled the senses. At Angelo’s Italian Market, the meatballs, bread and sauce delivered a classic Italian experience. The hand-rolled meatballs, crafted from a treasured great-grandmotherā€™s recipe, were tender and flavorful, perfectly seasoned with a blend of spices. They were complemented by a rich, tangy tomato sauce and paired with crusty, fresh bread. Each bite was a comforting taste of Italian tradition, blending savory, spicy and hearty elements in a truly satisfying way.

Black Leaf Vegan
