April was National Public Health Month. In celebration, the Minority Health Coalition of Marion County acknowledged the work being done with a special event – “Healthy You, Healthy Me, Healthy One & All – The Village.” The second edition of “Reaching for a Healthier Marion County Resource Guide” was unveiled by this year’s sponsor, Roche Diagnostics Corporation. Rodney Cotton, senior vice president of Roche Diagnostics, was the keynote speaker for the event, where he received The Sagamore of the Wabash signed by Gov. Eric Holcomb.

The Sagamore of the Wabash award was presented by Dr. Virginia A. Caine, Dan Evans Jr. and Jarnell Burks-Craig, executive director of the Minority Health Coalition of Marion County. Virgil Madden (not pictured) was the master of ceremonies.
The coalition saluted four local top healthcare presidents and CEOs for their efforts in healthcare advancements and equities. Honorees included: Eskenazi Health President and CEO, Lisa Harris, MD; Franciscan Hospital President and CEO, Lori Price; Community Health Network, accepted by Diane McDaniel, senior vice president and chief of diversity, equity and inclusion; IU Health, accepted by Vice President and Chief Health Equity Officer, Brownsyne Tucker Edmonds.
