The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is inviting Hoosiers to give their feedback on how the state could spend federal grant money intended to improve Indiana’s air quality.

After conducting a series of four community engagement public meetings across the state to solicit in person feedback, IDEM is now taking input through an online survey where Hoosiers can identify their specific priorities for pollution reduction measures.

The deadline to complete the survey is Nov. 29, 2023.

You can complete the survey HERE.

Through the Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) Program, IDEM received $3 million in initial grant funding from the U.S. EPA to conduct a greenhouse gas emissions inventory and develop a Priority Climate Action Plan for Indiana.

After submitting the plan to the U.S. EPA, due in March 2024, Indiana may be eligible to apply for a second round of grant funding for a portion of the $4.6 billion available to implement strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollutants.

IDEM has a dedicated webpage, on.IN.gov/cprg, for the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Program process. Information on the page includes:

  • An overview of the grant;
  • A timeline of when environmental action plans will be due to the U.S. EPA;
  • Information on important greenhouse gas sectors in Indiana;
  • Potential pollution reduction measures that have been initially identified;
  • A recording from a community engagement public meeting; and
  • A link to the survey.

Hoosiers are highly encouraged to review available information before taking the survey. The site also contains links to CPRG grant information on the U.S. EPA website.
