The Indiana Music History Project announced the launch of its first Indiana Music Audio Kiosk, now available to the public at its free public gallery at 1305 Broad Ripple Ave.
The gallery is in the lower level of Flanner Buchanan in the Broad Ripple neighborhood of Indianapolis.
The project is funded by a Heritage Support Grant from the Indiana Historical Society, via the Lilly Endowment, and provides users a unique interactive experience to explore a curated selection of Hoosier-made music.
Visitors can use the touchscreen on the kiosk to browse through curated playlists and find more information about artists and their relation to Indiana. Many of the songs are by local artists or are inspired by Indiana places and are difficult to find online.

“The kiosk is more than just a listening station; it’s a celebration of Indiana’s rich musical heritage,” said Indiana Entertainment Foundation executive director Rick Wilkerson. “We’re excited to provide a platform that highlights both renowned and emerging artists from our state, allowing visitors to connect with the sounds that shaped and continue to shape Indiana’s cultural landscape.”
The playlists span a variety of genres with both well- and lesser-known artists featured. The grant has also supported the digitization of the project’s music archive and the updating of the playlists regularly.
If you have any recordings or memorabilia of Indiana artists you would like to donate to the project, visit indianafound.org for more information.
