Indy Parks open houses put the “community” in community parks

After receiving an $80 million Lilly Endowment in 2023, Indy Parks plans to upgrade 58 local parks. Now, Indy Parks is giving the community a chance to shape what the plans look like.

Indy Parks is hosting six Community Open House events and one special event where community members can offer input on what they think the parks could use.

Each open house will showcase the current plans, while asking the community to suggest modifications as they visit.

Current plans span from upgrades to walkways and installation of pickleball courts to a splash pond and more.

“By expanding and improving our park system, we are creating more opportunities for residents to engage in healthy activities and build relationships with their neighbors,” Mayor Joe Hogsett said in a statement in the 2023 comprehensive master plan update.

Many public meetings were held recently at various parks from June 11-13.
