Local poet “Lex the Gentleman” hopes to inspire with new book

More by this author

Spoken word poet Alex Spearman, an Indianapolis native known by the moniker “Lex the Gentleman,” has released his first book entitled “Lost & Found: Poems to Inspire the Fire Within.”

Besides his book, Spearman performs his poetry at many local venues, such as the 2024 Indiana Historical Society’s Martin Luther King Jr. event.

Spearman hopes to provide his audiences with inspiration and encouragement, something he does weekly with his show “Spoke & Heard with Lex the Gentleman” that streams Monday nights at 9 p.m. EST on the platform Tagged.

With his book, Spearman aims to bring the life, faith and uplifting language of his spoken word pieces directly to readers.

The book includes poems about a range of topics and is divided into five sections dedicated to the themes of faith, hope, unity, family and love. Through these themes, Spearman shares his own struggles and experiences with a global audience and how he found Christ to be a source of solace through it all.

“I wanted to encourage people to know it’s never too late,” Spearman said. “It’s never too late for them to be found, no matter how lost they feel, or how discouraged they become. They can always be found at the haven of hope.”

To purchase a copy of Spearman’s book, order it from Amazon here and from Barnes & Noble here. Find his performance schedule and upcoming events at his website LexTheGentleman.com.
