Marian University’s vice president, Chris Creighton, received the Sagamore of Wabash Award, the highest honor given by the governor.
The Sagamore of Wabash recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to Indiana’s heritage. Creighton was recognized for his distinguished service to the state through previous and current roles.
Prior to his role at Marian University, Creighton served as the chief of staff for the Indiana Department of Transportation and legislative director for Gov. Eric Holcomb.
In his current role, Creighton drives strategic initiatives at Marian University, including the development of the Riverside Education Innovation District (REID). REID aims to advance the near northwest area through investment and educational attainment. Creighton also assists in government matters and maintains relationships with business partners and developers.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Sagamore of the Wabash Award from Governor Holcomb,” Creighton said. “This award will serve as a reminder of the tremendous privilege I had to serve the State of Indiana during his administration.”
The Sagamore of Wabash was created during the term of Gov. Ralph Gates. Previous recipients include astronauts, presidents, ambassadors, artists and citizens who have significantly impacted Indiana.
