Women’s Fund of Central Indiana hosts ‘The Power of Women: An evening with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex’

The Women’s Fund of Central Indiana will host an event with Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, on Nov. 29 at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown, 350 W. Maryland St.

Established in 1996, the Women’s Fund is now a part of the Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF). The Woman’s Fund raises and donates money to invest in the lives of women and girls in Central Indiana.

“Women’s Fund of Central Indiana believes in the force of women’s voices, women’s experiences and women’s work,” said Tavonna Harris Askew, advisory board chair, in a statement. “We know that Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex does, too. We are honored that she will join us on this special evening to celebrate our common cause—the power of women.”

Markle became a member of the royal family by way of her husband, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. In 2018 Markle became the first American biracial royal. The history came with controversy, as the couple said others in the royal family made racist microaggressions. The two later resigned their royal duties.

Tables for the event are available for purchase to groups and organizations that support the mission of Women’s Fund. Visit WomensFund.org for event information. Women’s Fund has also invited 20 high school girls to attend the event.
