Indianapolis native and comic Mike Epps will film a Netflix comedy special in the Madam Walker Theatre on Nov. 20. Show times will be 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. This will be the first Netflix special filmed in Indianapolis.
“I am excited to not only film my Netflix special in my hometown but also at the iconic Madam Walker Theatre where there is so much black history. It’s only right that I shine a light on my city,” Epps said in a press release.
In addition to his stand-up shows, Epps can be seen on “The Upshaws,” a sitcom about a working-class Black family in Indiana.
The Madam Walker Legacy Center is thrilled to host Mike for what is sure to be a legendary show,” said Madam Walker Legacy Center President Kristian Stricklen. “The city of Indianapolis loves Mike. It is so wonderful that he wants to include this community and our historic building in the television special.”
Epps will be the first person inducted into the Madam Walker Legacy Center’s “Walk of Fame” since the building was renovated in 2018.
