New Pacers Bikeshare opens in Haughville

More by this author

The newest location of a Pacers Bikeshare station opened Thursday on Indy’s near westside. The station is the first one to include instructions in both Spanish and English.

The station is on West Michigan Street near Warman Avenue at the B&O Trailhead, which extends through Speedway, and features 20 docks for electric and classic bikes.

“We’re excited to have Pacers Bikeshare start to serve our near west side communities and provide affordable and active transportation options along our city’s trail and greenway network,” said Kären Haley, executive director of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, which manages Pacers Bikeshare.

The station is funded through the Central Indiana Community Foundation’s Connected Communities Initiative, which is supported by a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. The initiative aims to improve connection in underserved areas.

All bikes can be ridden anywhere where bicycles are permitted. Riders can check in the bikes from the station at any of the 50 other locations across Indy.

Marion Country residents are eligible for free Pacers Bikeshare annual passes through the IndyRides Free program. Once residency is verified, applicants should receive an access code by mail within five to 10 business days.

The pass is valid for unlimited 30-minute trips on classic and electric bikes. After 30 minutes, a usage fee of 25 cents per minute applies until the bike is returned.
