Q: Tell us about Bhatta Boom Photo Booth. What led you to start your business?
A: Bhatta Boom Photo Booth is owned by Samantha Bhattacharyya and is operated by her and her husband, Kanish Bhattacharyya. Our journey began in 2019 when we were looking for a photo booth for our wedding. We were intrigued by this business, so we decided to combine our decades of experience in photography, sales, technology and project management to start our own business.
Q: How do digital booths enhance events?

A: At Bhatta Boom Photo Booth, versatility is key. We offer a range of options — Digital Dropoff Booth, Open Air Booth, Timeless Capture Booth, Audio Guest Book, AI Sketch Artist and bespoke experiences. Each booth can be tailored with branded graphics and interactive features to fit the event’s theme. Q: What technological innovation does Bhatta Booth use to enhance customer experience during events?
A: Innovation is at the heart of the Bhatta Boom Photo Booth. We were the first company in Indiana to introduce the Audio Guest Book and the Timeless Capture Booth and also the only company in the state to offer the AI Sketch Artist, powered by cutting-edge technology. These advanced robots utilize a single photograph as their reference, meticulously transforming it into a hand-drawn masterpiece in less than a minute. Over the years, we have created one-of-a-kind experiences for our clients, most recently we created a paparazzi experience for Ortega’s Tay-Gate celebration.
Q: What challenges have you found as an entrepreneur?
A: Our primary challenge has been to provide the best possible experience and customer service without raising our prices. Just like most other businesses, we were not immune to the recent supply chain uncertainties and inflation. In our quest to not raise prices by too much, we’ve taken the following steps:
- Optimize our operations and automate some of the manual processes.
- Ensuring we have a price-effective option for all budgets.
- We train our attendants, allowing them to run photo booth events themselves.
Q: What do you think sets your business apart from others?
A: There are three items that set us apart — transparency, project management and over a decade of experience in high-tech.
We believe in transparency, which is why pricing for the majority of our services is posted on our website, and there are never any hidden fees. As certified project managers, we have an eye for detail and treat every event as a project by identifying timelines and action items. This ensures that we never drop the ball or spring a last-minute surprise on our clients. Last but not least, a background working in technology companies enables us to leverage our software beyond its limits as we can have coding and machine learning experience in-house.
Q: As a business owner, how do you hope to grow in the next four to five years?
A: We hope to grow our brand by developing our offerings and increasing our footprint beyond Indiana.
Q: What has been the most memorable achievement, feedback, or story you’ve received from clients?
A: Over the years, many organizations, especially nonprofits, not-for-profits and charitable organizations have reached out to us with requests to donate a photo booth for an event or gala, but as a small business, we were limited to only a couple of such requests per year. Because we wanted to be able to offer more to our community, we put our thinking caps on in 2023 and launched a program providing free photo booths for these organizations, which allow us to provide a free photo booth to an organization with no concession to the service or experience.
Q: What advice would you give to aspiring business owners?
A: Get to know your community and network within your industry. You will learn a lot more about your business and your industry.
