The Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper, a leading voice in community journalism, is thrilled to announce a strategic partnership with the Hoosier State Press Association (HSPA) to intensify its commitment to spotlighting and addressing health disparities in diverse and underserved communities across Indiana.

A Collaborative Effort for Positive Change: This partnership represents a powerful alliance between two influential entities committed to heightening public awareness and advocating health equity. The Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper has a rich history of shedding light on critical issues affecting underserved populations, and this collaboration with HSPA amplifies their collective impact. The Hoosier State Press Association has an untapped network of newspapers that serves as a powerful platform for amplification.

Continuing the Legacy: With its long-standing dedication to serving the community, the Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper has been at the forefront of addressing health disparities. Over the past three years, in concert with the Greater Indianapolis Branch of the NAACP,  we orchestrated a series of illustrious town hall and community conversations with the visionary CEOs of the Largest Health Systems in Indiana to highlight what each of their institutions is doing to drive health equity.  These monumental gatherings served as an unparalleled platform, unveiling the profound initiatives each institution spearheads in propelling the march toward resolute health equity. This collaboration with HSPA marks a significant milestone in the publication’s journey. It’s not merely a convergence; it’s a resounding testament to the Indianapolis Recorder’s enduring commitment to fostering transformative change in all communities throughout Indiana.

Evaluating the Impact of SDOH Initiatives: At the heart of this partnership lies a dedicated focus on assessing the impact of Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) initiatives implemented by various health systems in the state. Merging their resources and expertise, the Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper and the Hoosier State Press Association (HSPA) aim to provide comprehensive insights into the effectiveness of these initiatives in addressing health disparities.

Key Objectives of the Partnership:

  • Conduct in-depth analyses of SDOH initiatives undertaken by health systems in Indiana.
  • Raise awareness about health disparities and advocate for policies that promote health equity.
  • Engage communities through informative content, empowering them to make informed decisions about their health.
“We are excited about this partnership with the Hoosier State Press Association, as we will collaboratively work to raise awareness about and combat systemic issues that have plagued people of color and poor individuals for generations. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the well-being of communities across Indiana and that brings the Recorder tremendous joy.”
