Last month, after a nearly year-long rate review process, AES Indiana received approval from the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission to implement new customer rates. Those rates go into effect May 9. The new rates, combined with warmer weather, means our customers may see a spike in their electricity bill. We understand the significant impact utility bills have on our customers, which is why we’re dedicated to keeping monthly costs as low as possible while still making improvements that benefit you.
We understand that you’re facing rising expenses in many areas of your life and want to offer a few tips to help you stay cool, save energy and cut down on your electricity bill. Check out these energy-saving tips – they’ll not only help you cut down on your energy usage but also lessen the impact of rising rates and warmer weather on your electricity bill.
Adjust your thermostat: Set your thermostat to the highest comfortable temperature when you’re at home. When you’re away, consider raising it a few degrees higher or using a programmable thermostat to automatically adjust the temperature during times when you’re not home.
Seal air leaks: Inspect doors, windows and other openings for air leaks. Seal any gaps with weather stripping of caulking to prevent cool air from escaping and warm air from entering your home.
Use natural light: Take advantage of natural daylight by opening curtains and blinds during the day. Just be mindful of direct sunlight heating up your home and use shades or curtains to block any heat.
Maintain your HVAC system: Regularly clean or replace air filters in your air conditioning unit to ensure its best performance. Schedule a maintenance check to keep your air conditioner running efficiently.
Start saving on your electricity bill and make your home more energy-efficient with these simple tips. They’ll help you manage rising costs and warmer temperatures without breaking a sweat. Visit aesindiana.com/ways-save to save energy and money for your home.
