From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 12, Victory Field will be awash in pink as Indianapolis hosts the annual Sista Strut. This event is set to bring the community together to raise awareness about breast cancer on Black women. Participants will walk in solidarity, celebrating survivors and honoring those lost to the disease.
“We are thrilled to bring Sista Strut back to Indianapolis for another year,” said Leon Williamson, market president. “This event is not just a walk; it’s a movement that brings our community together to support and uplift women and men of color who are affected by breast cancer. We believe in the power of unity and awareness to make a real difference.”
Sista Strut highlights the importance of early detection and the need for continued research and support for people of color, who are affected by breast cancer at disproportionately higher rates. The event will feature a 3-kilometer route, educational sessions and health screenings.
This year’s event will highlight the disparity and feature health care professionals and breast cancer survivors sharing their stories. Attendees can also look forward to live entertainment, food vendors and family-friendly activities.
Registration is now open online at indystrut.com. Participants are encouraged to register early to secure a spot and receive a Sista Strut T-shirt.
